DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAMS

The Children’s Schoolhouse offers a variety of enrollment options for children ages 2 1/2 to 5 years.  The  program includes a balance of personalized academic work, group activities, independent exploration and creative play time.   The Tuesday/ Thursday program highlights the social and emotional skills needed when transitioning to a school environment.  The schedule is flexible and includes plenty of free play time as well as group activities that progress during the year.

The M/W/F program is designed to develop the skills needed for kindergarten.  It includes introduction to academic concepts and  building fine and gross motor skills as well as social and emotional skills.  We encourage independent exploration and group interactions and strive to challenge the children to strengthen their skills.  There is still great value put into creative play time and the magical opportunity it offers.

We reference the Maine Early Childhood Learning Guidelines to guide us in creating an excellent school experience.  The CSH is proud of its excellent art program, introduction to Spanish and individualized academic attention.

Our beautiful facility offers a comfortable environment with expansive and dynamic options indoors and out. We work to instill a love of the Earth by promoting composting, recycling and outdoor play as much as possible.

Monday through Friday is an excellent option for parents who need more coverage for their children.  These students have the opportunity to interact with mixed age groups.

We offer Wrap Around Care from noon to 3 PM.  The afternoon session includes quiet rest time and more opportunities for play and creativity.  Extended care (8:00 to 8:30 and/or 3:00 to 4:00) is possible at a rate of $5 per hour.

Enrollment Options:

Full Day

  • Pre-School plus wrap around care before and after the Pre-school program
  • Ages 3-5
  • Monday through Friday
  • 8:30 am – 3:00 pm

Annual tuition is $5,500. This may be paid in 10 equal monthly installments.

Five Morning Pre-School Program:

  • Ages 3-5
  • Monday through Friday
  • 8:30 am – 12:00 pm

Annual tuition is $3,500. This may be paid in 10 equal monthly installments.

Three-Morning Pre-School Program:

  • Ages 3 1/2-5
  • Monday, Wednesday & Friday
  • 8:30 am – 12:00 pm

Annual tuition is $2,250. This may be paid in 10 equal monthly installments.

Two-Morning Pre-School Program

  • Ages 2 1/2 – 4
  • Tuesday and Thursday
  • 8:30 am -12:00 pm

Annual tuition is $1,750. This may be paid in 10 equal monthly installments.

Wrap Around Care Available

The Fee is $15 per afternoon unless there is a standing commitment for regular attendance.  Please speak with the Director for more information.

Before and After School Care

  • 8:00 am – 8:30 AM / 3:00 to 4:00  pm
  • $5/hour
